The best GTA engagement photo locations, season by season
September 28, 2026 · By Vineeth Sasi Kumar

Cherry blossoms in spring, lakeshore sunsets in summer, fall colour in the ravines and cozy winter streets — our favourite Toronto and GTA engagement locations for every time of year.
An engagement session is part portrait shoot, part rehearsal for your wedding day. The right location makes it feel natural, and the GTA has an astonishing variety of places to choose from. Here are our favourites, grouped by season, with practical tips we've learned from photographing couples across Toronto.
Spring: blossoms and fresh green
High Park, Toronto
High Park's cherry blossoms are famous — and famously busy. Peak bloom only lasts a few days, usually in late April or early May. Go at sunrise on a weekday if you can, and have a back-up date ready because bloom timing changes every year.
Toronto Botanical Garden and Edwards Gardens
Tulips, flowering trees and winding paths make these North York gardens a beautiful spring option, with plenty of variety in a short walk.
Kariya Park, Mississauga
This small Japanese-style garden is lovely in spring when the cherry trees bloom. It's compact, so it works best as one stop in a longer session.
What to wear in spring: soft pastels, light layers and shoes you can walk on damp grass with.
Summer: lakeshore light
Scarborough Bluffs and Bluffer's Park
White cliffs, sand and Lake Ontario make the Bluffs one of the most dramatic spots in the city. Evening light hits the cliffs beautifully. Wear shoes you can walk on sand in, then change for photos.
Humber Bay Arch Bridge, Etobicoke
The bridge frames the Toronto skyline perfectly at sunset. Allow time to walk along the waterfront trail.
Port Credit, Mississauga
The lighthouse, marina and lakeside paths have a relaxed seaside feel, with lots of cafés nearby for an after-session celebration.
Evergreen Brick Works
Industrial brick, greenery and ponds in one place. In summer the gardens are lush and the light through the old buildings is lovely.
What to wear in summer: flowing fabrics, solid colours and breathable materials. Bring blotting papers — it gets humid.
Fall: our favourite season
Ontario fall colour usually peaks in mid-October around Toronto. It books up fast, so plan early.
Main Street Unionville and Toogood Pond, Markham
Heritage storefronts and a pond framed by maple trees. One of the most romantic small-town settings in the GTA.
Kleinburg and the McMichael grounds, Vaughan
Woodland trails and a charming village main street, minutes apart. Great for a two-look session.
Rouge National Urban Park, Scarborough
Trails, meadows and riverbanks bursting with colour in October — and far fewer crowds than downtown parks.
Ravines and conservation areas
Toronto's ravine system and conservation areas like Kortright Centre, Heber Down and Petticoat Creek offer forest paths and golden light without the crowds.
What to wear in fall: jewel tones, knits, coats and boots — burgundy, forest green, navy and camel look beautiful against the leaves.
Winter: cozy and cinematic
Winter sessions are underrated. Snow reflects soft light, and the city looks magical when it's dressed for the holidays.
The Distillery District
Cobblestones, brick and — during the holiday season — twinkling lights. Go on a weekday to avoid the market crowds.
Nathan Phillips Square
The skating rink and lights make for joyful, energetic photos. Bring warm gloves.
Snowy parks and gardens
A fresh snowfall in any GTA park turns into a blank white canvas. Some of our favourite winter wedding and engagement images were taken in ordinary parks right after a storm.
What to wear in winter: a beautiful coat is your outfit. Add textured scarves, hats and gloves, and bring hand warmers.
Practical tips for any season
- Book for golden hour. The hour before sunset gives the most flattering light all year.
- Check permits. Some gardens and historic sites require photography permits or have rules for sessions. We'll check for you.
- Choose two looks maximum. One more casual, one dressier.
- Bring something personal. Your dog, your favourite coffee order, a vintage car — anything that feels like you.
- Plan for weather. Have a rain date or an indoor back-up like a gallery, museum or café.
